Perhaps here nestled away in a very private domaine in the mid east of the island of Mauritius is the finest resort of all, Four Seasons. The resort is very special, the hotel faces north east so is sheltered from the south easterly winds you can experience in the low season period from May to September. The resort actually faces toward Ile Aux Cerfs and you can take a boat from the jetty over to the island for a change of beach, or a change of golf course. On your doorstep just a 3 minute courtesy shuttle drive away however, is arguably the finest golf course on the island, the Four Seasons Golf Club designed by Ernie Els. A stunning design and one which will stun all your senses and test all parts of your game, especially your long game, as off the blue tees it plays at 7,000 yards and that is not the back tees! The main highlights of this Four Seasons Resort is that it is so secluded and has an air of privacy hard to find anywhere else, you feel that you are somewhere extremely exclusive.
There are some nice touches at Four Seasons including the chance to have a complementary bicycle so you can whizz around the extensive resort, this is especially good because the resort is big in terms of size and to walk everywhere would be tiring, if you prefer not to cycle you can be collected at any time by a resort Club Car.
The Spa here is a major asset, located in a wonderful spot, overlooking the lagoon and the mangrove swamps from the treatment rooms. There are 12 treatment rooms in total which each have their own room for you to shower and change again. The gymnasium and sports activity area is superb, it even has an area for boxing and a long swimming pool as well which is ideal for early morning lengths post a gym session. Or you can do group yoga lessons in a room overlooking the lagoon.
Four Seasons Resort is different to all other hotels in that it sits in a very privileged natural lagoon, a long way from the open ocean and the reef. This makes the water brilliant for swimming and of course all water sports including water skiing and paddle surfing etc. The lagoon is liked by hundreds of species of fish so snorkelling in such a sheltered spot is a joy.
