Designed by Robert Trent Senior, this course stands out from Los Lagos due to its abundance of trees—which inspired its name—and its more compact size, along with fewer water hazards. The greens here are smaller, undulating, and well-protected. While both courses share the same designer, they present intriguing contrasts: Los Lagos features water and sand hazards, whereas Los Olivos offers strategic, narrow, tree-lined fairways and elevated greens.

Measuring 6,536 meters, this course is the larger of the two at Mijas Golf. Lagos features gentle slopes, spacious fairways, and a minimal number of forest tree obstacles. However, it is also well-protected by numerous bunkers and no fewer than nine lakes—after which the course is named—eager to catch any stray golf balls.

Additionally, the greens are expansive and flat, with subtle undulations. The wide tees can be adjusted to either increase or decrease the challenge, making this course suitable for players of all handicap levels. It stands out as one of the most renowned commercial courses along the Costa del Sol.
