Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa

Experience a perfect blend of sun, sand, and golf. The Marriott Sawgrass is aimed at the golf fanatic, rather like Doral in that sense. The Marriott is home to what many people call the 5th Major – the TPC Players Championship on the TPC Stadium Course is one of the US’s hardest challenges. The famous 17th hole with its island green is notoriously difficult even for the world’s very best players.

The hotel is up near Jacksonville and has a fantastic beach club close to the hotel which has an idyllic location. The resort also has the excellent Dye’s Valley Course and nearby there are 5 other excellent tests of golf so it may well be a good idea to hire a car here. You can fly direct to Tampa but with Virgin it would be via Miami and then up to Jacksonville or a 3 hour drive from Miami north.

The Marriott is a serious golfer’s venue and in our view ideal for small parties of golfers, but not particularly a family style venue. This is one of the few places you can stay and play a Championship course seen on TV almost as much as Augusta National. It is a one off superb golf holiday location even if you stay just 3 nights as part of a two or three centre Florida itinerary.
