If guests choose to take a night off from cooking in their fully-equipped suites, they can head to the Mélange Bistro for a large buffet breakfast, where they serve omelettes made to order, waffles and a German bread selection. Peacock’s Grill is a fine dining restaurant with a mouth-watering á la carte menu, where guests can enjoy seafood and other delicious meals for dinner. And for a post-meal aperitif, Peacock’s Bar & Lounge transforms from a coffee bar during the day to a lively lounge with live music, drunks and tapas dishes.

Monte da Quinta is a fabulous family-friendly resort, where younger guests aged from six months to 12 years old are catered for. There is a crèche for babies and toddlers aged up to four years old and a children’s club, complete with mascots, welcoming those aged up to 12 years old. Here, younger guests can choose the activities they would like to take part in each day. There is also a movie club, “cool activities” for children of all ages, board games, an outdoor playground, table tennis and kid’s pool.

The Magnolia by Ritual Spa is a secluded sanctuary where guests can take advantage of the Jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath; gaze out over the gardens from the indoor pool and indulge in a treatment using Elemis products.

This 18-hole, par 72 golf parkland course was originally an orange grove, so has an abundance of sweet-smelling orange trees throughout, as well as umbrella pines and cork oak. Voted the best golf course in Portugal in 2011, it also features five beautiful lakes and boasts many eye-catching holes.

Redesigned in 2014 by renowned American golf architect Beau Welling and European Ryder Cup winning captain Paul McGinley, the North Course was named the best new golf course in Europe at the 2014 World Golf Awards. Its sandy terrain and mix of woodland, umbrella pines and strategically-placed bunkers and water hazards tests golfers, and it really is an enjoyable course to play.

Having hosted the Portuguese Open eight times, this course, designed by William Mitchell, is longer than the North Course, giving the big-hitters of the ball an advantage on the par 5s. the backdrop of Ria Formosa is spectacular.
