Located within 30 minutes from the centre of Cork and only 20 minutes from Cork Airport, Fota Island Resort is one of the best-golfing venues in Ireland. It is home to no less than three top-quality championship courses and nestled in the heart of beautiful County Cork.

The  Fota Island Luxury Hotel does not disappoint, one of the premier 5-star hotels in the south of Ireland, it is modern and comfortable. Each menu is carefully crafted to highlight the skills of the culinary team and showcase the local area’s abundance of wonderful ingredients, whether it is fresh seafood from Castletownbere or Ballycotton, fabulous local cheeses or organic produce from nearby farms.

THE AMBER LOUNGE: The Amber Lounge is a family-friendly all-day dining venue with an outdoor terrace which serves freshly prepared lunches and relaxed, bistro style evening meals.

Golf Courses

Style: Parkland

One of three courses available at Fota Island, Barryscourt course is a long par-73 with bunkers, water and big undulating greens. On a clear day the course offers incredible views of South West Ireland’s countryside. The highlight is the redesigned 8th, which features an array of hazards to be safely negotiated.

 

Style: Parkland

One of three courses at Fota Island, this is a true championship test and is bound to impress you from start to finish. The recently developed 9-holes has made this course even better. Interesting features have been worked into the design, not least on the signature 16th hole, where visiting golfers face the challenge of firing their approach shot over an old quarry to a small target.

As a former host of the Irish Open, the three courses at Fota Island are kept to a very high standard, especially on the original Deerpark course. It’s a signature parkland course and most recently held the Irish Open in 2014. If you want to follow in the footsteps of Europe’s best golfers, then you must play this tricky course that winds its way through South West Ireland’s countryside
