Who we are

Elegant Golf Resorts is a trading division of EFR Travel Ltd, which has 7 other website products, a Company which is wholly owned by Edward Rom and operates with ABTA, ATOL, IATA licences and is a member of IAGTO, which is a signal of our recognition as serious tour operators in the specialised golf holiday field. (International Association of Golf Tour Operators.)

Elegant Golf Resorts was initiated by David Sledmere in November 2008. The philosophy of the Company is to offer simply, golf resort holiday venues, mostly of the best 5 star standard, across Europe and in several long haul destinations. There are only a handful of 4 star hotels which have been included because they have very good golf courses on site. David has hand selected all the featured venues based on 24 years of working in this specialist field.

David has been involved in operating and selling golf holidays since 1984, with a wealth of experience. He joined the EFR Team in October 2008, following 12 years as Sales Manager and Sales Director at 3D Golf, who were market leaders for many years in the UK.

Edward Rom has been involved in operating holidays for 25 years and the EFR Group was established in 2001 in Bushey Hertfordshire, with a strong penchant for selling long haul destinations and luxury holidays with a big emphasis on personal service and a wide sales knowledge.

Edward Rom and David Sledmere, will both be actively involved in selling and booking or advising on golfing venues, so you can get “Director’s Choice” recommendations, as they have made a point of visiting virtually all resorts featured in this exclusive golf resort holiday programme.

The team is also enhanced by one of our senior sales staff Rupesh, who is a budding golfer and has a wide experience in several of our European resorts in the Canaries, Marbella, Lisbon and the Algarve.

David Sledmere is a golfer and a member of Turnberry, with a handicap of 7, based in our Scottish office in Ayrshire, whilst Edward Rom, based in Bushey plays at Hartsbourne, with a handicap of 8.

The holding company EFR Travel is guided by the expertise of the Financial Director and Office Manager Bhavesh Patel, who also has a big influence not just on the financial running of the company, but also on website design and look and feel and the overall corporate identity of all our marketing and promotional activity.

In Resort Service & Our Golf Partners

Elegant Golf Resorts are not a no frills tour operator, we like to offer you more service and more attention to detail, when you arrive in resort. To achieve this, we have selected local golf agency partners to meet you at your arrival airport (in most destinations.)

They will offer a full meet & greet service, make sure you find your transfer or car hire vehicle and provide you with local information documents, which will normally include full directions and a map showing golf course locations. In some resorts you will also have more information of golf courses including descriptions and recommendations for local restaurants etc. All agencies also offer a full 24 hour emergency service in case of accidents and unforeseen events, we feel this is a crucial level of service.

In the Algarve and Lisbon we use the most experienced golf agency known as PAGS, headed up by Sue and Andy George. Andy has been running golf events for the last 20 years in the Algarve and you may wish to find out more on how to participate in Amateur Golf Weeks which we will be selling for winter 2009-10. They offer the most in depth documentation. PAGS also do a visit to your hotel during your stay to check things are going smoothly.

Your car rental in Portugal has been organised through PAGS and their contract is with Budget, who have desks inside both arrival buildings at Faro and Lisbon. Your car will be brought right outside the arrivals terminal at Faro which is a special VIP service organised by PAGS for our clients.

In Turkey we use Matrix Golf Travel, headed up by Yavuz, the moment you arrive at Antalya airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel and each day to your golf courses by their transportation. We are certain that Matrix are the perfect golf partner in Belek for a smooth running golf holiday. Car hire is not an option at Antalya.

In the Costa del Sol we use Marvellous Golf Holidays headed up by Beatriz Soler, Beatriz has a wealth of golfing experience in all parts of Spain and the Islands. Marvellous have an office in Calahonda near Mijas.

In Mauritius we use White Sand Tours who also have small offices in the resorts where you are staying, in case you wish to book extra excursions on the Island or hire a car etc. They too will welcome you at the airport and organize all your transportation.

In Dubai we use SNTTA headed up by David Millican, who are one of the leading and oldest local agencies in the UAE, they will meet you at the airport and shepherd you through immigration to pick up your transportation with Hertz. They will provide you with maps and much more information on what there is to do in Dubai, plus they organise excellent excursions into the desert etc.
