Stay on two cracking 18 hole golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus which sweep towards the coast below the level of the hotels and in constant view from most public areas or bedrooms. The newly opened Spa offers at last a great option for non golfers, with state of the art treatment rooms and jet pools and even the chance to enjoy Jacuzzis outside the facility with amazing views of the coast next to an outdoor pool which cascades down to a waterfall.
Originally a Sheraton and Westin Golf Resort, but now privately owned and managed, this excellent 4-5 star complex is back to its best. Boasting a spectacular location 2 kms inland, beneath some stunning mountains the entire complex and golf courses overlook from a very high vantage point, the skyscraper skyline of Benidorm and the azure Mediterranean, both in easterly and westerly directions.
The resort is like a classical Spanish Pueblo, with a vivid range of colours and some amazing architecture, with the main building lobby of the Villaitana built to replica the stunning Cathedral at Altea just 3 miles away. There are plenty of little plazas and loads of terraces with panoramic views of the coast below, the back of the hotel has cascading swimming pools with superb views and suntraps to enjoy sunbathing.
The Villaitana is a vast hotel, built with real panache and has at all times a really stylish feel and ambience, the Indigo restaurant where you can enjoy the finest a la carte Mediterranean cuisine contrasts well with Papa Mambas more casual like a TGI Fridays, where you can shoot pool, watch sports TV on plasma screens or enjoy some fine Mexican beers or Riojas and eat great quality snack food options, at the bar or in comfortable seating.
We have two options, the Villaitana hotel or the Gran Villaitana – the main difference is that the rooms in the Grand are about 10% bigger and have walk in showers as well as baths, the balconies are a little bigger too and you are closer to the reception areas and restaurants.
