St Andrews is the Home of Golf, a lovely old town full of golf shops, restaurants and bars with a strong golfing theme and oodles of history. The final holes of the Old Course climax actually within the town itself, a natural amphitheatre of golfing drama, with the massive 18th green and the Vally of Sin under the noses of the Cathedral that is the Clubhouse of the R&A.
We can quote for the Old Course Hotel of course which lies alongside the most difficult hole in OPEN Golf – the 17th which has recently benefitted from a massive face-lift. However, our main featured hotel lies 3 miles out of town on the cliff tops overlooking the Grey Auld Toon, Fairmont St Andrews with its two magnificent golf courses adjacent.
The marvel of staying at St Andrews is the rich choice of golf courses to play, which includes the superb relatively new St Andrews Castle Course on the way up to the St Andrews Bay , the marvellous Kingsbarns and the parkland test – the Dukes Course.
We still love the New Course, the Jubilee and the Eden, all of which have great links holes. Your best way of getting on the Old Course, within the context of normal affordability is via the Ballot whilst you are there, or by booking very early for the summer of 2011. If you have a big budget but just want to guarantee a game on the old Course book a Suite package at the Old Course Hotel with us. It will cost but worth a once in a lifetime treat, surely!
