le mer golf

Pas De Calais

This region is tucked away in the north east of France, close to Belgium and runs right along the spectacular coastline, all the way up to Dunkerque on the northern tip.

The coastline is spectacular with wild dune backdrops, with belts of pine forest leading right down to the dunes land, a lot of the coastline is heavily protected by the conservationists, which has restricted the development of new golf courses in the last 30 years.

The rolling hills of Picardy are beautiful and the drive south from the Eurotunnel to St Omer and Arras will show how the scenery at its best or similarly driving across and down to Le Touquet. It is a verdant and fertile country with lots of successful farming. The golf courses here are very varied, there are not that many, but it is all about quality rather than quantity.

The highlights are the classic links at Le Touquet and Belle Dune and the forest/links combinations at Hardelot. Moving inland the best two parkland courses of St Omer and Arras with their respective hotels are first class and regularly hold big Tournaments at a National level.

We highlight the ancient town of Boulogne and the old walled city is stunning, the lovely ramparted town of Montreuil should always be visited close to Le Touquet, it is exceptionally quaint. Whilst the market town of St Omer deserves a mention and the old city of Arras and its cobbled streets.

The jewel in the crown is Le Touquet what a first class town – the essence of the word chic, it is so cleverly designed, in a forest, with lovely real estate, leading gently into the centre of town, where you will find a host of great boutiques and the country’s finest stretch of sand.

Le Touquet Paris Plage is the ultimate beach, only matched by those at Deauville and La Baule, which we also feature in our other regions! Our packages are based on cross channel crossings via the Eurotunnel the speediest way to cross into France, not particularly glamorous but very effective and the most reliable way to traverse LA MANCHE.
