Am I booking with a bon fide experienced travel company?
Yes Elegant Golf Resorts is a trading division of EFR Travel who have been in business for 7 years and have all the appropriate trading licences, including ATOL and ABTA. EFR Travel is a limited company, wholly owned by Edward Rom.
Is my money secure?
Yes if you are booking a holiday with a flight and ground package combined, your holiday is financially protected by our ATOL licence. If you book just a ground package your holiday is protected by our ABTA licence. There is no risk involved at all in booking your golf holiday with Elegant Golf Resorts
What are the payment terms?
If you are booking a holiday to Europe without flights, the deposit requirement is £50 per person, but worldwide it is £150 per person. If you are booking a package to Europe and it includes a flight the deposit is the value of the flight cost plus £50 and worldwide is £200 per person, unless again we are booking a published air fare which is the flight value plus £150. We have to charge the flight in full because the tickets will need to be issued immediately to secure the cheapest fare for you.
Methods of Payment?
We can accept all types of payment, if you decide to pay your balance by a credit card there is a surcharge credit card fee which is normally 2.5%. We will of course accept cheques for final payment or switch cards, or bank transfers. Paying by these methods avoids you paying a levy. The balance of your holiday is due to be paid 10 weeks prior to your holiday.
What happens after I make a booking?
After you make a booking, we will send you a confirmation invoice, which outlines all your holiday information, we may send you a first invoice, which shows you the requested golf tee times and then once the golf is confirmed a second invoice which shows your confirmed golf itinerary. We will send you a booking form which needs to be completed and sent back by ABTA regulation. You will be responsible for paying your final invoice, 10 weeks prior to your departure date and then we will send you your itinerary and final travel documentation between 2-3 weeks prior to your travel date. Our local agents will then look after you in most of our selected resorts from the moment you touch down at your holiday venue. If you have a problem during your holiday please make sure you contact our local agents so that they can solve that problem whilst you are there, complaining once you are back in the UK is too late for us to change your enjoyment.
Booking your tee times and golf course regulations
Booking golf times can be in peak periods a tricky business, especially in months like March, April and November, depending how early or late you make your booking. We will of course attempt to secure the tee times as near as possible to your requested times, but some degree of flexibility has to be applied and we may have to juggle around your golf days to fit you in the best golf itinerary. We will make sure that your tee times will be booked before you leave the UK. In the case of resort golf in Mauritius you are allowed to book the first 2 days of your golf itinerary only in advance as that is the policy of the local golf resorts.
Occasionally, due to inclement weather conditions, courses have to close due to flooding etc. If this happens our local agents will try to find an alternative course which may be open instead, this may incur a higher green fee charge which you pay them locally. Similarly, courses can close for maintenance after they have confirmed tee times to us for you and we then have to inform you of this and make an appropriate change to another golf course, which may involve an increase or decrease in your golf costs. Both parties need to exercise a spirit of understanding and flexibility to agree new solutions when these types of issue occur.
What happens when I arrive at my destination airport?
You are met by our agents in most of our selected venues who provide you with all the information you require to make your holiday run smoothly, they will make sure you meet up with your transfer vehicle or car rental, provide you with documents and or maps and may exchange our vouchers or itinerary, with their own golf and hotel vouchers, eg in Portugal and Turkey this will probably be the case.
Do I need my handicap certificate?
Yes we 100% recommend that you take your handicap certificates in case you are asked by golf course caddy masters to prove your ability before you play. It is your responsibility not ours to do this and we do not take responsibility for any course refusing you play because you cannot prove your handicap.
Emergencies in resort
If things go wrong, for example, you lose your passport, someone in your party becomes ill and needs medical or hospital treatment make sure you contact our local agents and if they are not able to speak to you, which is unlikely, make sure you contact our office in Bushey. This is the advantage of booking with a company who does use local agencies to assist you when things go wrong.
Will I face surcharges on my holiday?
Normally not, because we do buy forward currency in Euros, US Dollars etc. Occasionally airlines impose fuel surcharges, which have to be passed on to customers, as happened in 2007 when oli prices went up so rapidly. We will try our utmost not to surcharge, but do not guarantee against it. This is the case with all tour operators during these times.
Vouchers for hotel, transfers and golf green fees
We will provide you an itinerary with all your flight times, hotel, car hire, transfer and green fee vouchers when you receive your travel documentation. However, you will be required in some destinations to exchange these vouchers with our local golf agencies when you arrive at the airport in your destination. Unused vouchers are not refundable once you come back from your holiday.
