The Montgomerie "Papillon Golf Club" opened in September 2008 and was designed by renowned European Golf Designs, this is one of Europe's most exciting new additions during 2008 and has been heralded as a first class lay out.
The course has been designed across sand ridges, amongst deep avenues of huge umbrella pine trees. There are many dog legs, elevated tees, great par 3s and holes with waste sand instead of rough, like at Kiawah Island, there is also a lot of strategically placed water hazards and deep bunkering to contend with.
The course was designed on the concept of the layout at the worlds no 1 ranked private club, Pine Valley in Carolina, with a real wild and natural feel to the design and visual aspects.
